Macbeth – Guilt

Life … is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

To some, guilt is like buyer’s remorse. It paralyzes and drains the person. The higher the transgression, the more severe the after effects. In Macbeth, Shakespeare makes Macbeth commit that most evil crime of regicide, along with his wife. The resulting turmoil and gnawing of conscience have been made into many popular movies, including the amazing Throne of Blood by Akira Kurosawa and Maqbool by Vishal Bhardwaj.

Without a background in critical analysis, proper training in literature or the required sensibilities and sensitivities to appreciate this masterpiece (and having read it in graphic novel format) I am fully aware that I am consuming a watered down tame version of the original.

Maybe one day I shall read it in its entirety.

But till then I shall selectively cherry pick quotes from this eminently quotable work by the supreme bard and hope many more interpretations will be inspired from this classic.
